2024 Square Foot Studio Prints

I make my platinum/palladium prints by hand, one print at a time. 

The images in this catalog are available as a limited edition of 1/1, approximately 26 x 35 inches. Smaller, non-editioned prints are available by special order.

This Square Foot Studio project is in its fifth year. Following the light on new subjects (both natural and manmade) continues to inspire and challenge me to push my limits as well as those of the equipment. 

I isolate the objects from the background and print them larger-than-life. Mesmerizing, fascinating and beautiful too, the images call you from across the room. 

Why do I work with a centuries-old process? I was hooked in 1976 with my first sight of Frederick Evans photographs at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. On that afternoon I knew the lustrous glow created by the wide spectrum of blacks and browns was what I wanted for my prints. I remain a student of history and technique, continually deepening my understanding of the process and its potential in my pieces. 

While the revolutionary nature of photography lies in its ability to replicate and duplicate, my 1/1 editions depart from this photographic tradition, embracing the singular nature of paintings and illustrations.
