Odin Stone
This third collection of Tillman’s images focuses on the Orkney Islands. Located between the northern coast of “mainland” Scotland and the Shetland Islands, this archipelago consists of approximately seventy separate and distinct islands. Surrounded by the power of the North Sea these islands retain a touch of mystery through the combined cultural history of over 5000 years. Today Orkney is home to a vibrant modern community, superimposed on the surviving architecture of the Neolithic, Iron Age, Norse, Medieval, Feudal and monastic periods. The physical beauty of these islands changes from moment to moment as the light and the ever-present wind dance across the landscape.
